Taylor Emerson is an associate attorney at the Law Offices of Schurmer and Wood specializing in all types of plaintiffs’ personal injury and wrongful death matters.
She comes to the firm with over 15 years of litigation experience from the defense and plaintiff side. Ms. Emerson started her career as a defense attorney in Ventura County with Haffner, Haffer & Kirwin and Procter, Slaughter and Regan where she gained vast experience handling all types of litigation matters. She has taken and defended well over a thousand depositions and aggressively protects her clients. Ms. Emerson has experience in handling a wide range of complex litigation cases.
Ms. Emerson has a proactive litigation approach that allows her clients to get the best resolution possible. She has extensive experience in settling cases, including mediation, arbitration and trial. Ms. Emerson has also argued several cases successfully at the Court of Appeals, Second District.
Ms. Emerson has negotiated numerous six figure settlements for her clients. She is an active member of the State Bar of California and is licensed to practice in the United States District Courts. She has also been admitted Pro Hac into courts Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan and West Virginia where she has actively litigated on behalf of clients for the past decade.
Ms. Emerson is involved n the Ventura County Bar Association, Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA), and the Women Lawyers of Ventura County.
Ms. Emerson graduated Highschool at the age of 15 years old and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree from Pepperdine University. She majored in International Business and studied in Paris while attending Pepperdine. After graduating from Pepperdine, Ms. Emerson attended Ventura College of Law where she worked simultaneously for the Law Offices of David Karen, a Plaintiff’s litigation firm, where she gained valuable experience in all areas of personal injury and medical malpractice. Ms. Emerson completed a mediation internship where she was able to attend 90 mediations with a skilled Mediator where she obtained valuable negotiation skills and tactics while in law school. Ms. Emerson also worked at the Self Help Legal Access Center while in law school where she was able to assist individuals on a wide array of matters.
After law school, Ms. Emerson passed the bar at the age of 22 and has continued to actively litigate cases.
