We are pleased to announce that Lauren Wood has become a partner. The firm has changed its name and will now be referred to as the Law Offices of Schurmer and Wood. Ms. Wood is a talented and dedicated attorney and will provide great value to all of our clients as partner.
Ms. Wood is a member of numerous professional organizations, such as the Ventura County Bar Association, the Santa Barbara County Bar Association, the Santa Barbara County Barristers, Santa Barbara Young Professionals, Santa Barbara Women Lawyers, Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC), Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA), American Association for Justice (AAJ) and the Ventura County Chapter of the American Inns of Court.
Ms. Wood is vice-president, founding member and current board member of Ventura County Attorneys for a Cause (VCAC), a charitable organization that aims to provide support and financial assistance to families in need in Ventura County and to provide a vehicle for members in the legal profession to become actively involved in the needs of the community. Ms. Wood is also an honorary board member of the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Charities (LATLC) as a result of her participation and her charitable contributions.
Ms. Wood joined the firm as a law clerk in September of 2011 after having obtained significant plaintiff’s personal injury experience at another law firm in San Francisco, CA. She rapidly contributed to Schurmer & Drane, performing many duties including all aspects of discovery, legal research, motion writing and client relations.
After passing the bar on the first attempt, she joined the firm as an associate attorney. Ms. Wood jumped in with both feet and relentlessly and aggressively began to represent clients in all different types of personal injury and wrongful death cases. She quickly amassed experience in every aspect of our specialized legal practice.
Ms. Wood has appeared in numerous courts and has argued motions ranging from the simple to complex. She has taken and defended many depositions including plaintiffs, defendants, police officers and medical and technical experts. She has arbitrated a number of cases with very successful results and had her first jury trial before most young associates have the opportunity to take a physician’s deposition. We are pleased to have added her as a partner in the firm Schurmer & Wood.
Our law firm continues to specialize in all types of serious personal injury and wrongful death matters and with the addition of Ms. Wood as partner, we are sure that our services will be that much better.
